Alta Vista Co-operative Nursery School offers a toddler program for children 18 to 30 months and a pre-school program for children 30 months to four years of age (& toilet trained). An enrichment program of music and art is offered regularly. Please contact AVCNS to recieve a registration package. 

For the last twelve years, children of AVCNS and the community have enjoyed an optimum learning experience in the Music and Arts program. Small group activities provide children exploration with percussion instruments, movement to music, story-telling and drama, as well as visual and creative arts. Cultural awareness is enjoyed through food experiences, celebrations, song, and dance. Rhythm, beat, pitch and singing add to the children's body and language awareness. Tip-toeing, marching, prowling, thudding and sliding tend to be more easily understood with sound and visual cues.

Artistic, historical and musical adventures vary with the seasons. Eight week sessions in the Fall, Winter and Spring add awareness of the world around us. Sound, language, art and musical theories in child development are basic tenets of our program.

• Winter Program - January 2011 – March 2011 (1:00 – 3:00pm)
• Spring Program - April 2011 – June 2011 (1:00 – 3:00pm)
• Parent participation is NOT required

LUNCH PROGRAM (from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

• 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon - supervised
• 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m. - bring your lunch and we will supervise

Monthly Registration:

If you register your child "monthly", the fees are:

• Mon-Wed-Fri program $120
• Tue-Thu program $80
• Mon - Fri program $200

Daily registration: $15 per day


BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE:

For the morning program:
You can drop off your child as early as 8:30 a.m. and pick up as late as 12:00 noon for only $2.50/15 min.

For the afternoon program:
You can drop off your child as early as 12:30 p.m. and pick up as late as 4:00 p.m. for only $2.50/15 min.


EXTRA DAY CARE:

You can bring your child for extra day care to a Toddler or Pre-school AM or PM program for $20/day or to the JK/SK PM program for $25/day (when spots are available)..

For these services, please pre-register you child.

Alta Vista Co-operative Nursery School will continue its P.M. Program to accomodate JK & SK before and after school.

AVCNS has a well-established history for excellence. Certified Early Childhood Educators provide theme-based developmentally appropriate learning opportunities. Child-centred activities in a classroom environment allow the child to explore and develop personal skills. Sharing and respect encourages positive confidence with peers. Carefully planned teaching monitors each child's success and fosters a joy in learning.
